Future SizeHow Many Diapers Does a Baby Need?
On average, a baby will use between 6,000 and 8,000 diapers from birth until potty training (around 2-3 years old). The exact number depends on your baby's weight gain pattern, diaper size changes, and when they start potty training.
Newborns typically need 8-10 diaper changes per day, while older babies may need 5-6 changes. This calculator estimates the total number of diapers remaining based on your baby's current weight and standard size charts.
Diaper Size Guide
Diaper sizes are based on baby weight, not age. Here's a general guide:
- Newborn (NB): Up to 3.5 kg — typically used for the first 2-4 weeks
- Small (S/P): 3.5-5 kg — usually fits from 1-2 months
- Medium (M): 5-9 kg — the most-used size, lasting several months
- Large (L/G): 9-12 kg — common from 6-12 months
- XL (XG): 12-15 kg — for older babies and early toddlers
- XXL (XXG): 15+ kg — for toddlers until potty training
Tips for Saving on Diapers
Buy in bulk when you find a good price, but don't stock up too many of one size — babies grow quickly! Medium (M) is the safest size to stock up on, as babies spend the longest time in this size. Watch for sales and consider subscribing to regular deliveries for automatic discounts.
